Kiersten Alton, RPh
I am a third generation Montana Native. After graduation from the University of Montana with a degree in Biology I attended Pharmacy School at the University of Texas in Austin. While attending pharmacy school I worked as an anesthesia technician at Austin City Hospital and as a pharmacy technician at People’s Pharmacy. Upon graduation People’s Pharmacy hired me to manage one of their 4 locations. This was the best experience of my work career. People’s Pharmacy was a holistic compounding pharmacy. We worked closely with doctors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, nutritionists and holistic practitioners of all types. The next 10 years of my life was spent learning about herbs, vitamins, homeopathy and many other ways to heal chronic conditions. I specialized in helping patients get off prescription medications by making lifestyle changes and utilizing holistic healthcare such as herbs and vitamins. My eyes were opened to the amazing ability the body has to heal and recover from chronic or acute conditions. I also learned a lot about the power of the mind to heal or hinder healing.
In 2007 my husband and I decided it was time to head back to Montana and raise our children closer to their grandparents. Montana is where our roots are. We moved back and built a home on the farm my grandparents settled after immigrating to the US from Germany in the 1930’s.
I love being a compounding pharmacist because it allows me to customize the medication to the patient. Bio-identical hormones are exactly like the hormones our body used to produce. Why would we use anything else? Our patients want to do what is best for their bodies and heal rather than just treat symptoms. I have the best patients! Most importantly I love my job because compounding is all we do. I get to focus on what I love rather than being overwhelmed and understaffed like many retail pharmacists.
My three children keep me busy and are my first priority. Working part time allows me to continue my journey of helping patients heal from chronic conditions, treat their hormone imbalances and many other health issues.
